Los regalos de Isabel

Isabel es una grabadora artesana y una tía muy guay. Tiene un taller en Campanar, un barrio de Valencia, y hace cositas realmente preciosas, con un toque natural y delicado.

El otro día me pasé un momento a verla y me gustaron tanto los productos nuevos que tenía que me llevé una libretita de viaje para los dibujos de Miguel.

 

 

 

Isabel is a really cool crafter. She has a workshop in a suburb of Valencia where she spends her hours working on beautiful objects. I find that she coferes them a delicate and natural touch...

Some days ago I went and visited her at the workshop. I readilly loved the new stuff. I had to get one of the notebooks she makes... so Miguel can practise his drawings.

 

   

Ella, como es tan maja, va y me regala una piedra pintada a mano y un par de azulejos hidráulicos. Puntualizo: soy muy fan de estos suelos antiguos, me parecen geniales. Son semiartesanales, con diseños únicos y colores preciosos. Estoy haciendo una pequeña colección que voy recogiendo por ahí (derribos, escombros, regalos...) e Isabel tuvo el detalle de traerme dos de su casa familiar del pueblo.

Algún día os enseñaremos la colección.

She was so very kind to me. As a gift she gave me a handpainted stone and a pair of hydraulic tiles. Although this may sound strange, it is the perfect gift for me: I am the biggest fan of tiles... They are semi-handmade, have unique designs and beautiful colors. I already have a small collection of that I've been picking up here and there (demolitions, debris, gifts ...). Someday I will post our collection.

Teatro de papel: Manada de lobos

Es noche cerrada.

La luna se refleja sobre la nieve. 

Un silencio absoluto rodea al bosque.

De pronto, una manada de lobos aparece en la espesura.

Le cantan a la Luna como hicieron sus ancestros.

Sin esperar respuesta.

 

It is the darkest night.
The moon reflects in the snow.
Silence surrounds the forest.
Suddenly, a pack of wolves appears in the woods.
They howl at the moon as their ancestors did.
They wait for no answer.

 

 

 

 

 

Este teatrillo es el tercero de la serie negra, junto con éste y este otro. 

Está hecho en una caja de cartón reciclado con unas medidas aproximadas de 13 x 9 x 5 cm. (largo x alto x profundo). La escena está construida con cartulina y papel recortados y pintados a mano. 

Además, ¡puede colocarse delante de una fuente de luz y hacer de linterna decorativa!

This little theater is the third of the black series, along with this and this. It is made inside a recycled cardboard box measuring approximately 13 x 9 x 5 cm. (Length x height x depth). The scene is made of cardboard and paper - all handmade.

This box can be placed in front of a light source and make decorative lantern!

¡Textil mandarinux!

¡Yeah,yeah,yeeeah! 

Como se acerca el calorcito traemos bolsitos y estuches nuevos, para fardar con complementos de tela molones. Estos días hemos machacado la máquina de coser: junto con mi querida y siempre solícita madre (en su papel de ayudante y asesora) hemos creado toda una colección de bolsitos. 

En primer lugar os enseñamos los estuchitos. Los hemos hecho de diferentes tamaños, con cremallera y forro internos para que sean resistentes y soporten todas esas cosillas que transportamos de un lado a otro. A ver que os parecen las telas...

As the warm weather approaches we bring you purses, bags and cases with very groovy fabrics. These last few days we have wasted the sewing machine: along with my beloved and always caring mother (in her role as assistant and advisor) have created a collection of purses.
 

First, I'd like to show you the cases. We made in different sizes with an internal lining fabric and zipper for extra resistance and support, for a safe and durable transportation of all those little things we carry around from one place to another. Lo cierto es que coser a máquina es muuuy divertido. Al principio te estresas a tope: la máquina va a dos mil millones por segundo, el carrete se mueve, las costuras salen torcidas, las cremalleras no se abren una vez cosidas... Vamos, cositas varias. Pero al final le pillas el punto y te podrías pasar días y días intentando hacer realidad ¡TODOS LOS PROYECTOS DEL UNIVERSO!. 

En este caso recopilamos telas de varios puntos, tanto nuevas como reutilizadas. Las primeras salieron de tiendas de costura con modelos divinos y las segundas de catálogos de tela viejos y telas del mercadillo. Estas últimas eran ropa en un principio... Pero la hemos destripado para hacer cositas nuevas con ellas ¡jua,jua,juaaaa! (risa malvada).

Ahora os vamos a enseñar los bolsitos. Son muy sencillos: de forma rectangular con dos asas para que se puedan usar como bolsa de la compra, bolso para salir a la calle o saquito de viaje. Miden 40 x 30 cm. aproximadamente y les hemos hecho forro interno (incluidas las asas) y sobrehilado en zigzag para que sean más resitentes.

The fact is that using the sewing machine is veeeery funny. At first, it makes you very nervous: the machine goes to two billion km per second, the spool moves, leaving twisted lines, zippers do not open once sewn ...  But in the end you get the hang of it and you could spend days trying to realize ALL PROJECTS OF THE UNIVERSE. 

Here we collect different types of fabrics, both new and recycled. The first came from sewing shops and second ones from divine old fabric catalogs and old clothes from flea markets. We gutted these last ones to make new things with them ha, ha, juaaaa! (evil laugh).

Now we are going to show the purses. They are very simple: a rectangular shape with two handles that can be used as shopping bag, bag to go out or travel bag. They measure about 40 x 30 cm. They have inner lining (including handles) and zigzag overlock to be more resitant.

What is your favourite fabric? Personally, I love the yellow circles (which I exchanged for a Roberta's purse in the Ubik market) and the pink flowers on black background (in the last picture).

¡Fue muy divertido!

Como sabeis ayer estuvimos en el Ubik Café de mercachuelos. ¡Fue una tarde muy agradable! El estreno no pudo ir mejor: montamos las cositas en un rincón muy majete que tienen para niños, con escalones, pizarras, juguetes y libros infantiles. La gente era muy simpática y el ambiente relajado.

Pero sin duda lo mejor de todo fue la compañía: Rarum, Lis y La Paquita. Crafters y artesanas con estilo propio. El buen ambiente y las cosas tan bonitas que había nos animaron a seguir con el proyecto de mandarinux.

Al despedirnos yo me quedé con un bolsito de Roberta, (de su firma Rarum) realmente precioso. Os lo enseñaré pronto.

As you know yesterday we were at the mini market held in the Ubik Café. It turned out to be a wonderful evening! The experience couldn't have been better: we had our exhibition placed in a corner they have for children to play. There were blackboards, toys and books...

However, the best thing was surely the company: we were there alongside with Rarum, Liz and La Paquita. They are all crafters and artisans with very groovy style. The atmosphere and the beautiful things they had therestrongly encouraged us to keep going with our project. 

When we closed our exhibition, I exchanged one of my purses with one from Roberta's exhibition. Her signature, Rarum is so beautiful. I'll show you her bag very soon.
